A prenuptial agreement could be to blame for the delay of Simon Cowell’s wedding to fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy, according to reports.

The music mogul is said to be drawing up a pre-nup the ’size of a phone book’ ahead of his marriage.

“Simon’s a multimillionaire and he isn’t going to tie his assets to any woman without some legal protection,” a source told Now magazine.

“So a prenup’s in the works – and expect it to be the size of a phone book. He’s very savvy but it has no bearing on his feelings for her.

“The prenup’s nowhere near finalised but it’s likely to be as iron-clad as Simon can get it. Not that Mezhgan will walk away with nothing should they split. She’ll be taken care of and will never have to worry about money again.

“A timeline’s likely to be attached. So if they marry and split within the first year, she won’t get much.

“After five years, she’ll probably get a lump sum. But no-one knows amounts yet. After ten years, she’d get a very significant payout.”

The 50-year-old music mogul is engaged to make-up artist Hussainy, 36, but reports claim they now don’t plan on marrying this year after originally setting a date in the summer.

A source told Britain’s Reveal magazine: “Simon has backed out of his plans for a summer wedding with Mezhgan. He made the excuse that he was too busy with X Factor and taking the show to America to make plans for the big day.

“But he left Mezhgan baffled when he admitted that he still wants to have kids with her – and doesn’t want to leave it any longer.”

Simon Cowell reportedly impressed his in-laws when he met fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy’s parents in LA.

The 50-year-old X Factor judge recently visited the make-up artist’s dad and mum, Sayed and Mary, at their home in LA and pals claim they thought he was ‘very charming’.

A friend told Britain’s The People newspaper: “They are a very humble family with strict religious values and they weren’t going to make any special exceptions for Simon.

“But he was so kind. He turned up with some flowers for Mary and was very chatty. Simon was nothing like the opinionated person he comes across as on TV and was careful not to be too controlling.

“The Hussainys are very proud and have strict ideas about who their daughter should be with. But Simon was wonderful and everyone approved.”

Simon Cowell has hit out at reports that he and fiancé Mezhgan Hussainy will have four lavish wedding ceremonies.

“In spite of various people claiming to be making arrangements for our wedding, no such plans exist,” Cowell said.

American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres had her socks knocked off by a young woman finalist with a curious name.

Crystal Bowersox, 24, of Toledo, Ohio delighted judges across the panel of this week’s edition of the reality talent show with her rendition of the Janis Joplin classic Me and Bobby McGee.

“These people love you. Take it all in and respond,” declared DeGeneres.

DeGeneres said she thought of Bowersox when she heard the Kris Kristofferson-penned song on the radio. She qualified her praise with a request for “a little more connection”.

Bowersox, a single mother and musician who accompanies herself on guitar, and rolls out a “homey carpet” on-stage, responded by noting she had big plans for next week, USA Today reports.

Kara DioGuardi asked Bowersox if she had considered putting down her guitar – to which the singer reiterated: “I just told Ellen that I have big plans for next week.”

Simon Cowell said he would not change a thing about the act. “Up until now, we’ve been listening to a karaoke competition. You just took a song, nailed it, and your only gimmick is a carpet.”

Simon Cowell won’t wed until 2011 – to help him best promote his new X-Factor show in the US, it has been claimed.

The music mogul is engaged to 36-year-old make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy.

It had been thought the pair would walk down the aisle later this year. But now sources say the marriage will be delayed until it coincides with a publicity drive for X-Factor.

A source told CBS News: “Expect no wedding this year at all – 2011 is the year of Simon in the US, and he will pull out all the stops needed to become an even bigger success.

“[Cowell] is the king of spin and knows that a great love story will help sell the US version of ['X-Factor'].”

Cowell, 50, will quit American Idol when the current series ends, and get to work on launching X-Factor. It is set to begin in September 2011.

He will serve as a judge on both the American and the UK versions, according to reports.

Another insider said: “He knows that his own show has to be a success. It has to be bigger than even ‘Idol’ and with his magic touch on shows, he is taking no chances.”

Cowell is reportedly set to spend a whopping £65,000 on a Jaguar XK convertible for make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy.

American Idol judge Cowell, who is set to marry Mezghan later this year, has been spotted in Los Angeles, looking around car showrooms.

It is believed he has been looking at classic cars ready for her 37th birthday.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Money is clearly no object, but he’s considering buying her something that little bit special. He’s obviously a big fan of cars but she is, too.”

Cowell – who is also known for being vain – recently bought her a joke his-and-hers diamond encrusted mirror for £7,000.

The source added: “Simon also has a wicked sense of humour and decided to present her with a mirror so they could both check their reflections. It’s a running joke between them.”

But the source revealed that Cowell, who is taking his popular X-Factor to the US, also constantly buys Mezghan smaller romantic gifts.

The source said: “Red roses, French lingerie, Prada bags, you name it. He gives her something new practically every day. One particularly sweet surprise was private his-and-hers Swedish massages in their London hotel room.”

Simon Cowell’s girlfriend has reportedly confirmed that the two are getting married soon.

The music mogul gave make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy a dazzling ring on Valentine’s Day and was quoted as saying she is “the one”.

Now, after days of rumours, she has reportedly said that the two are officially engaged.

The couple met on American Idol several years ago, and what began as friendship grew into love after Cowell’s previous relationship ended.

Although no quotes were published, RadarOnline.com claim Hussainy told its executive vice-president David Perel that they are getting married. The website did not reveal the wedding date but hinted that it is very soon.

A part of the story read: “And the wedding date? Well, we promised we wouldn’t give everything away, but let’s just say don’t put off shopping for their wedding gift too long.”

Mezhgan, 36, is an Afghanistan native and has been dating Simon for nearly a year, according to previous statements by Cowell’s publicist Max Clifford.

“They are very suited,” Clifford said earlier. “She is someone who is independent and says what she thinks and feels, and he likes that. He’s probably the happiest I have ever known him in the nine years I’ve been working with him.”

Aussie pop star Dannii Minogue, his fellow judge on the UK’s X Factor TV show, said: “He loves smoking. Loves it. I’m going to get him a smoking brochure.”

And English singer Leona Lewis, who was discovered by Simon in the X Factor three years ago, said: “I’m going to get him a lighter. It’s going to be an insane party.”

Dannii also revealed Simon’s favourite song is called Danke Schoen.

The track became popular in 1963 when it was recorded by American singer Wayne Newton. It has since been featured in the movies Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Meet The Parents.

Dannii said: “It’s his favourite song of all time. I’m sure it will be played on the night.”

Dannii interviewed Leona on Sydney’s 2DayFM radio show where she is a guest presenter. They will both be at his party in Los Angeles when he turns 50 on October 7.

According to reports, the $500,000 event will be attended by 400 celebrities. Guests are said to include Sir Elton John, Kevin Spacey and Donald Trump.

X Factor judge Louis Walsh is to pick his final three acts in Milan with Boyzone’s Ronan Keating.

Keating is jetting out to Italy to help Walsh choose his bands for the show.

Walsh has only ever won the talent competition once before, with Shayne Ward.

A source said: “Louis is great with the bands and he’s determined to find one this year that can win the show and become superstars around the world.”

Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell is planning to take Susan Boyle on the American version of the show, he has revealed.

But Cowell, 49, said the Scottish singer will have to win the show before he offers her the chance in the US.

He said: “I would say to anybody who won the British show that we guarantee them a spot on the American show. I think that’s a great incentive. So if it is Susan, yes.”

Cowell, who also admitted he isn’t a fan of Boyle’s new makeover, said the singer will still need to work hard at the semi-finals.

He told British newspaper The Sun: “Susan has four weeks to prepare for the biggest night of her life. She has got to sing better than she ever sang before.”
