They visited children’s shoe shop Cubs and had a lot of fun checking out all the little bootees. They then went to Cafe Rouge for a bit of lunch. Russell Brand and Katy Perry have become engaged, according to a report out of the US.

The rogue lothario and American pop singer and daughter of Christian evangelists are reported engaged in a US magazine exclusive.

Brand was said to have popped the question the traditional way – with a ring.

The pair became engaged five days ago while on holiday in Jaipur, India. They have been keeping almost constant company in Los Angeles and London since hooking up at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.

Perry has tweeted enthusiastically of their India trip, saying of the Taj Mahal: “He built this for me.”

The India trip, according to an insider, was a gift from Brand. “She told him how much she loved Indian culture while they were eating curry in England, so he surprised her,” the insider said.

A friend, meanwhile, has said: “[Perry has] never connected with anybody like this. [He] is super into her. She says he makes her laugh like nobody else in the world.”

Look out Los Angeles because there’s a new driver about to hit the road. Being so in love, Katy Perry thought that it would be a good idea for her boyfriend, comedian Russell Brand, to have a car since he wil be spending a lot of time at her new home that she just bought in LA. So for Christmas, the singer reportedly shelled out $100,000 on a fully loaded 2010 Range Rover. The only problem is that Russell can’t drive. Being the loving girlfriend that she is, Katy also got Russell some driving lessons to boot. Well that was thoughtful of her.

The Brit comedian popped the question to the I Kissed A Girl singer during a pre-Christmas get-together in the UK.

After happily accepting his proposal, Perry later jetted back to the US while Brand stayed in London.

Now reports claim the happy couple are set to tie the knot – once Brand has found her the perfect ring.

One source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Russell knows Katy’s the one for him.

“He’s never been into a girl like he has with her and they’re besotted. He asked her to marry him last week and she quickly said yes.

“They don’t know when the wedding will be but they are planning to make it in 2010 if their schedules can work.

“Russell is searching for a jewellery designer to make up a ring in time for New Year.

“Katy’s thrilled with Russell and how he is making so much effort. Russell also has the approval of Katy’s parents and everyone in the pair’s close circle know about the engagement.”

Comic Russell Brand reportedly cancelled a TV appearance by his girlfriend Katy Perry so they could spend the night in bed.

Perry, 25, was due to be a guest on BBC radio host Chris Moyle’s TV show Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night but Brand, 34, phoned the show hours before her appearance and said she wouldn’t be coming.

Producers then panicked as they struggled to find somebody to replace her as the guest in the first episode. They later persuaded Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper to appear.

A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: “Katy was due to be the star guest on Chris’s show.

“But he got a call from Russell late the night before telling him Katy wouldn’t be appearing as they wanted to spend the evening together.

“Chris was a bit annoyed but thinks Katy is hot as well – and if she was his girlfriend he would probably do the same!”

Russell Brand and Katy Perry have reportedly recorded their own version of the poem The Owl And The Pussycat.

Brand, 34, is currently dating the Hot and Cold singer, 25, and it is claimed they have penned their own version of Edward Lear’s poem.

A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: “Russell was just messing around in the studio with Katy. He was pretending to sing into the mic and started reciting the poem, The Own And The Pussycat, with the lines: ‘Oh lovely Pussy! Oh Pussy my love, what a beautiful Pussy you are.’

“It transpired the poem is a private joke between the couple. Russell apparently recited it to Katy during their Thailand holiday and they often use the nicknames Owl and Pussycat.

“Russell is ‘Owl’ because he’s wise and, well, it’s fairly obvious that Katy’s a sex kitten, isn’t it? He has an amazing delivery. Katy blushed at the line: ‘O let us be married, too long have we tarried’ then joined in, singing a refrain to Russell’s speech.

“That’s when it dawned on everyone. It was actually really good. With work, it could be a really interesting track, evocative of The Goons or Monty Python. They were very harmonious. Everyone was transfixed.”

The singer’s monster single ‘I Kissed a Girl’ is once again the number 1 song in America. The Barbadian singing sensation isn’t too far behind though as Rihanna’s ‘Take a Bow’ is hot on Katy’s heels at the number two spot. Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me on who’s going to rule the charts this summer. It’s pretty obvious that either of the girls is going to be it.
