The Dead chosen to play at Barack Obama’s inaugural ball

January 21st, 2009 | Category: Barack Obama, Politics, The Dead

The recently reunited band has been chosen specifically by the new president to play at his inaugural ball today. It’s probably not surprising since the band has already played two concerts for Obama’s campaign, this probably being the main reason why they reunited. So Obama’s election does something for the rock world too… wouldn’t have seen it coming. Mickey Hart had this to say about the upcoming show: It gave me pause when I had to get a security clearance to play a gig!” He also commented passing the security check without any problems: “Oh, yeah, we don’t look so bad on paper. It’s not as bad as you might think.” Here’s another outstanding example that rockers aren’t really as bad as some may consider them.

A source close to Jennifer Hudson has said that the singer and actress may perform the Star Spangled Banner at Barack Obama’s inauguration on January 20th. If it does happen, it will be her first public performance/appearance since the murder of her mother, brother and young nephew. The insider said “Organizers want Jennifer to sing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ at the Inauguration on Jan. 20. They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter.” I hope she does perform. It will be one momentous ocassion that can’t be missed.

Hayden Panettiere praises celebrity politics

November 04th, 2008 | Category: Barack Obama, Hayden Panettiere, Politics

This year’s US Presidential Elections have received a spirited wave of celebrity participation which we have never experienced in the past.

The major reason for this enthusiastic participation was the campaigning of a black man – Barack Obama, a very old man – John McCain and a hockey mom from Alaska – Sarah Palin.

The elegant actress Hayden Panettiere has also praised the celebrities for taking keen interest in the politics and playing their part in making the minds of the people.

Panettiere insisted that this involvement of stars has awakened the interest of new generation in the politics of the country.

The “Heroes” hottie said, “One of the major reasons why, especially young people, have come out and done so much to play a part in this election – and who are really getting out there and voting this time around – is because of the celebrity endorsements, because of how popular this election has become, and how much in the news, and how much it’s taken over, you know, our society.”

Well done, Panettiere!
