Actress Uma Thurman has admitted that motherhood has made her think about ‘quitting acting’.

Thurman, 40, has two children with her ex-husband Ethan Hawke – daughter Maya Ray, 11, and son Levon Roan, eight.

The star admitted that she is trying to balance her movie career, as well as being a good mum to her kids.

She said to Candis magazine: “I love and adore being a mother. It’s the greatest gift I’ve ever been given.

“Having children flips the game from being about you to about what you can create in a home and what your responsibilities are.

American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres had her socks knocked off by a young woman finalist with a curious name.

Crystal Bowersox, 24, of Toledo, Ohio delighted judges across the panel of this week’s edition of the reality talent show with her rendition of the Janis Joplin classic Me and Bobby McGee.

“These people love you. Take it all in and respond,” declared DeGeneres.

DeGeneres said she thought of Bowersox when she heard the Kris Kristofferson-penned song on the radio. She qualified her praise with a request for “a little more connection”.

Bowersox, a single mother and musician who accompanies herself on guitar, and rolls out a “homey carpet” on-stage, responded by noting she had big plans for next week, USA Today reports.

Kara DioGuardi asked Bowersox if she had considered putting down her guitar – to which the singer reiterated: “I just told Ellen that I have big plans for next week.”

Simon Cowell said he would not change a thing about the act. “Up until now, we’ve been listening to a karaoke competition. You just took a song, nailed it, and your only gimmick is a carpet.”

She added: “They’re great. They’re so sweet.”

Brit comedian Russell Brand has revealed he hated shooting sex scenes for his latest movie.

The star, a notorious ladies man, had to strip off in his new comedy Get Him To The Greek.

But he admitted to The Sun he found it “stressful” and “awkward”.

Brand, who is engaged to singer Katy Perry, said: “It’s actually sort of stressful. Not like actual sex, not as I know it. You’re standing with no pants, hunched over someone but without the lust.”

He even has a threesome in the film, a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But he insisted: “It was awkward.”

Brand was also accidentally set on fire during filming, adding: “I stood in the wrong place.”

The City star Whitney Port is writing an advice book for young women.

“Being a twenty-something can be a difficult phase. There are so many questions, and I wanted to write about my experiences for anyone who needs help navigating through life,” People reports Port as saying.

“It’s a really fun and fresh ‘how to’ guide where I can share anecdotes that I’ve learned from both work and my personal life.”

The book will be a “conversational, fun, and candid guide for girls looking to start out [in life] with style,” her publisher said.

True Whit is due to arrive in bookstores in 2011.

Date Night star Steve Carell said he ‘felt married’ to co-star Tina Fey the day they walked on to the set.

Carell, 47, said it was easier to film scenes for the flick because he felt so comfortable starring opposite the actress, 39.

He said to UK newspaper Daily Record: “I felt married the day we walked onto the set. I know that’s such a cliche, but it is true.

“It was very comfortable and we had an instant rapport in all of the domestic scenes. It felt very easy, right off the bat.

“Frankly, a lot of these situations were a bit closer to my personal life than I was really comfortable with.”

Asked if there were any funny moments that stood out, he said: “One day, Tina removed a mouth-guard and an enormous stream of saliva spurted from her mouth.

“I generally enjoy watching other people being funny.”

With a slight smile, he continued: “And after the show last year, my lady and I, Camila, we even went back to the hotel and conceived the little lady who is now our daughter Vida Alves McConaughey.”

As the audience first gasped and then broke out into laughter, the cameras cut to Camila, who closed her eyes and smiled in disbelief, before putting her head in her hands.

Model Daisy Lowe said her mum’s interest in ex-boyfriend Mark Ronson was one of the reasons they split.

Daisy, 21, who is now rumoured to be dating Doctor Who star Matt Smith, once had a brief relationship with music producer Ronson.

She admitted that her mum Pearl, 40, is always very vocal when it comes to her boyfriends.

Daisy told the UK’s You magazine: “My mother makes her opinion of my boyfriends very known, and it usually has a massive effect on whether I am with them or not.

“I knew she hated my first boyfriend – in my rebel phase – and that’s why I stayed with him.”

She then got on to the topic of Ronson and Pearl said: “And Danny [Goffey] and I liked Mark.”

Daisy added: “Yeah, you liked Mark too much and that freaked me out, so that’s maybe why that ended.”

Doctor Who star Karen Gillan is keeping quiet about a possible romance between her character Amy Pond and the famous Time Lord, according to reports.

Gillan, 22, recently appeared in the cult BBC sci-fi show for the first time when it aired on UK TV over Easter, alongside actor Matt Smith, who also made his debut as the famous Doctor.

Asked if their characters will ever be anything more than just friends, the Scots actress said: “Well, I can’t say whether there’ll be romance or not, but that would never be the main reason the Doctor and Amy are together.

“Ultimately, they’re both adventurers and lost souls who find each other.”

Gillan added that she is glad she and Smith, 27, both made their debut in the show at the same time.

She said to UK magazine Closer: “I feel really lucky to be going through this with someone else. We’ve got a great bond now, we’re good friends.”

She added: “We’re just being super-candid and sharing lots of pictures and fun stuff.”
