Nicole Richie throws birthday party for boyfriend

March 16th, 2009 | Category: Love, Nicole Richie

nicole-richie-joel-madden
The socialite apparently threw a huge birthday party for her boyfriend, Joel Madden. A “witness” described Nicole Richie’s surprise for Joel Madden: “There was a lot of laughing and even some speeches. Nicole and Joel were nestled in the center of the big group and looked as happy as they could be to be celebrating with their friends. They were beaming in the soft terrace lighting. The highlight of the evening was when Joel was presented with a huge birthday cake, accompanied by a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday. It was so big I’m surprised it didn’t set off the fire alarms.” Either this witness has very poor description skills or there was nothing really amazing about the party Nicole Richie threw for Joel Madden. Where are the dancing monkeys, the resurrected dinosaurs and the performing wizards? I mean, it would at least take that to make a party be big enough to set off fire alarms.

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams’ long wedding

March 16th, 2009 | Category: Celebrities Marriage, Mandy Moore

mandy-moore-and-ryan-adams
The couple’s wedding supposedly lasted a staggering eight minutes. This was of course Mandy Moore’s intention all along as she had previously said about the ceremony: “I want the wedding to be less of a big deal. Hopefully, it can happen and slip by unnoticed by everybody. I guess we have to be sort of sneaky about it, but I’ll see what I can accomplish.” It looks like Mandy Moore’s plan succeeded, with co-operation from Ryan Adams and the pastor who married them. The pastor had this to say about the “wedding”: “I thought it was either somebody famous or somebody really bad. Mandy was thrilled to be getting married. She was giddy but not in a childish way. She was so happy.” In truth it’s nice what Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams did, a nice and short ceremony which leaves more time for drinking… or other activities.

Hilary Duff and Carrie Underwood cheer on their men at the game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Ottawa Senators this past Wednesday at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Canada. Hilary was there to support her Senators boyfriend Mike Comrie and Carrie was there for her own Senators boyfriend Mike Fisher. The two blondes may have been good luck charms for their guys as their team won over the Lightning, 3-2 in overtime. Carrie was even seen jumping up and down after her Mike scored a goal. These ladies sure love their hockey and they sure love their respective Mikes.

Pete Doherty takes a break from women

March 13th, 2009 | Category: Dating, Pete Doherty

pete-doherty
The guitarist has recently admitted that he will be giving up women for a while since his current lifestyle and way of being is not too suited for relationships. Pete Doherty had this to say about the matter: “I just don’t want to inflict myself on any girl. I wouldn’t want her to have anything to do with me or the people I know or my life as it is at the moment. They just don’t need it.” Well enough of a noble thought on Pete Doherty’s behalf, still, another one of his comments gets me thinking: “I’m off that kind of stuff. Complete abstinence is what they advocate – but the odd gin and tonic’s alright isn’t it?” Out of the frying pan and into the fryer, as one may say. But surely Pete Doherty will hold true to his words and not seek female companionship… at least not too soon.

Jessica Simpson wants to get married

March 11th, 2009 | Category: Celebrities Marriage, Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo

jessica_simpson_tony_romo
The singer has recently admitted her impatience to get married and altogether her frustration that her boyfriend has not proposed yet. Jessica Simpson said: “I know Tony Romo loves me, but I don’t know if he’ll ever propose.” A source was also quoted on revealing Jessica Simpson’s wishes for an engagement ring: “Jessica was really hoping she was going to get an engagement ring. She wanted one for Christmas, then she thought maybe New Year’s Eve. Her last hope was that Tony Romo would propose on Valentine’s Day – but he didn’t.” In the old days women would usually be eager to get married because they had desires that in those times could only be satisfied through marriage, but now? Jessica Simpson should be a bit careful, though. Don’t rush the man, you’ll scare him away!

Kate Voegele New Album

March 11th, 2009 | Category: Album, Kate Voegele

Kate Voegele is gearing up for the May release of A Fine Mess, the highly anticipated follow-up to her 2008 debut album, Don’t Look Away (MySpace/Interscope). Voegele recorded the album in Los Angeles with producer Mike Elizondo (Rihanna, Maroon 5, Pink).

The 22-year-old has been racking up frequent flier miles of late, jetting back and forth between L.A. and Wilmington, North Carolina, where she’s also shooting new episodes of the CW Network’s hit TV series “One Tree Hill.” This season sees Voegele reprising her role as singer-songwriter Mia. She made headlines last year by performing several songs on the show, all from Don’t Look Away.

In their year-end issue, Billboard magazine spotlighted the 10 biggest film and television placement/appearances of 2008 and put Voegele’s involvement with “One Tree Hill” at No. 1. Wrote Billboard Sr. Editor Ann Donohue, “There’s getting a song placed in a prime-time show and then there’s getting cast in that show to play your own music and have the show’s creator write storylines for you inspired by your songs. Such was the case for Kate Voegele…”.

The new season of “One Tree Hill” will see Voegele giving audiences sneak previews of songs from the upcoming album, beginning with the March 16th episode, when she will premiere a brand-new track titled “Manhattan From The Sky.”

Voegele, hailed by Entertainment Weekly for being among the best of “the new golden age of female singer-songwriters,” spent the majority of 2008 touring in support of debut album Don’t Look Away, the record that earned her “Artist To Watch In ‘08” accolades from Billboard. Over the course of the year, she shared stages with Natasha Bedingfield, The Veronicas, Ben Lee, Cary Brothers and launched her own headlining tour.
Voegele performed on “Live with Regis and Kelly” and CBS’ “The Early Show,” and also appeared on “TRL” and Fuse-TV’s “The Sauce.” She recently gave a special acoustic performance on the ABC-TV’s “The Bachelor.” She’s also been featured on the cover of USA Today’s “Life” section and appeared in the pages of People, CosmoGirl, TV Guide and Giant, to name but a few.

Check out Kate’s latest video blog to sneak a peek inside the studio while she works on the new album.

New MASTODON video, “Divination”

March 11th, 2009 | Category: Music Video

Headbanger’s Blog has just premiered the new MASTODON video, “Divination.” The epic clip was helmed by Roboshobo, who also directed the video for “All Nightmare Long” from Metallica.
The clip depicts the band members on a rock n’ roll mission, trudging through the frozen tundra. “We’re climbing a mountain looking for a creature named Brent.” guitarist Bill Kelliher told HeadbangersBlog.com. “We were mountaineers — explorers like in John Carpenters ‘The Thing.’”
“It’s a really fun video,” adds guitarist and vocalist Brent Hinds. “I’m an old caveman trapped in a block of ice. Explorers find me and they put the flying V [guitar] up to the ice and it melts me. I grab the guitar, do the solo and then I kill them.”
“Divination” comes off Crack The Skye which hits stores on March 24th on Warner Bros Records

Lindsay Lohan Wants to Do a Britney Spears

March 10th, 2009 | Category: Britney Spears, Clique Girlz, FUN, Lindsay Lohan, SafetySuit, Song

lindsay-lohan-wants-to-do-a-britney-spears
Lindsay Lohan was apparently given the chance to work on a new album. Whoever granted her that was stupid. Now, it is being said that Lindsay wants to do a cover of a Britney Spears song. Rumors are going around that the songs that Lindsay has got her eyes on are ‘Womanizer’ or ‘Oops!… I Did it Again’. We all know the wonders that those two songs did for Britney’s career but I really doubt that it would work as well for Lindsay. Oh well, if she does follow-through with covering either song, at least we have something to laugh out our butts off.

Rihanna’s family’s whishes for Chris Brown

March 09th, 2009 | Category: Chris Brown, Family, Rihanna

chris-brown-rihanna-and-her-family
The singer’s family wishes that Chris Brown be sent to jail for what he did to Rihanna. A relative of hers is quoted as saying: “It’s about time. He should be in jail. He deserves whatever he gets.” Also, Rihanna’s father had this to say about the incident and Chris Brown’s impending punishment: “I don’t know how to react. Chris is a very talented guy. I still think he’s a little immature for Rihanna. Justice can never be served in this situation. He can’t feel the pain she felt. I don’t believe in hitting a woman. I hope everything works out better for them. I don’t feel happy or sad. He’s in the court’s hands. Let justice prevail.” Spoken like a true patriot… even though, his discourse somewhat reminds of those of the inquisition, but perhaps that’s just a wee bit of a coincidence. It is, however clear that Rihanna’s family doesn’t have any love for Chris Brown anymore… most the pity.

Jordin Sparks Loves the LA Dodgers

March 09th, 2009 | Category: American Idol, Jordin Sparks, Singer, Sport

jordin-sparks
American Idol champion Jordin Sparks belted out the national anthem at the first game of the LA Dodgers’ new spring training stadium in Phoenix, Arizona last Sunday afternoon. The 19-year old singer donned a Dodgers baseball cap at Camelback Ranch as they hosted the Chicago White Sox in a 3-2 loss. The Dodgers are looking to improve on their successful season from last year, after capturing the NL West Crown and playing in the NL League Championship Series. I wonder when Jordin’s going to improve on her career standing with a new record. I also wonder if she’s going to make an appearance on American Idol.

Blake Fielder-Civil’s new love interests

March 06th, 2009 | Category: Amy Winehouse, Blake Fielder Civil, Love

blake-fielder-civil-and-amy-winehouse
Amy Winehouse’s soon to be former husband has supposedly struck a very firm friendship with a 16 year old schoolgirl named Francesca Morralee. A source said this about Blake Fielder-Civil’s new amorous endeavor: “Francesa thinks it’s glamorous to be seeing Amy’s man but she’s only 16. She likes to have a good time but certainly doesn’t do drugs. With Blake’s reputation he is not the best role model.” Amy Winehouse of course is very saddened by this, as a source relates: “She still insists that Blake is the only man for her. She is convinced she can win him round.” It’s amazing how she can still be playing “bite my tail so I can bite yours” with Blake Fielder-Civil. But it is finally unfolding: the divorce will be the first step of separation for them, and Blake Fielder-Civil might just end up in counseling or prison since he seems to have taken a keen interest in 16 year olds.

Britney Spears’ long awaited tour:

March 05th, 2009 | Category: Britney Spears, Concert Tour

britney-spears-perform
The singer finally had the first show of her long-awaited tour was finally set in motion with the show at the New Orleans Arena on March 3rd. Britney Spears apparently did put on quite a show at a technical level, but she resorted to playback for most of the songs, and the only words she actually said in the whole show were these, spoken at the very end of the show: “Thank you New Orleans, I love u guys. Did y’all have a good time? Thank you so much.” Right, hell of a comeback for Britney Spears, songs that are “sung” in playback and just a few words at the end after such a long absence. If her fans let her get away with this, they should also be tarred and feathered.
